Eire Og Sevilla

Éire Óg Sevilla is a Gaelic football club based in Seville, Andalusia. Made up of both a men and women’s team, the club is host to a range of members from Ireland and Spain, as well as from throughout Europe, America and Australia.

Driven by a passion for this fun, dynamic sport, fostering its growth and promotion both locally and throughout Spain. Besides the weekly training sessions and regular games, our members organise a range of social and fundraising events in a supportive, international community.

Éire Óg Sevilla was founded on St Patrick’s Day in 2009 by a group of Irish expats living and working in Seville. With nostalgia for their homeland (and a few pints in their blood), they put together a plan to bring their national sport, Gaelic football, to the Andalusian capital.

Kit

The club’s first friendly game was played out little under a year later, against Andalusian rivals Costa Gaels. From there, the team went on to compete in two 2010 Iberian Tournament rounds in Madrid and Marbella. Soon after, in 2011, the women’s side was formed.

Éire Óg Sevilla hosted their first Iberian Tournament round in Sevilla in 2012, where the women’s team took out first place, and the men’s team finished runners-up. 2012 brought the first taste of Iberian glory for the club; after further victories in Barcelona and Madrid, the men’s team won the national championship, and the women’s side claimed second place.

In January of 2013, Éire Óg Sevilla brought Gaelic football to one of the biggest Spanish stages; playing an exhibition match at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium, during half time in a game between Sevilla FC and Granada CF.

Ladies

After a two-year hiatus, the club reformed its women’s side in 2015. In 2016, the ladies’ team travelled to Madrid to compete in a round of the Iberian tournament. After assisting in the development of a new ladies’ team in Malaga, our Sevilla girls played out friendlies with the neighbouring squad in 2016 and 2017, forming a new but fierce rivalry.

The well established Eire Og Seville have a healthy mix of experience and youth that makes them difficult opponents tactically and with youthful energy, unpredictable on the field.
